Who Should Run Your Social Media: In-House, Freelancer or Agency?

Sooner or later every growing business asks the same question: who is going to do our social media properly? There are three realistic answers, and each fits a different stage.

1. In-house (you or someone on the team)

Good for: businesses with a natural storyteller on staff and daily visual moments – cafés, salons, studios.

The catch: it is never “just a few posts”. Planning, shooting, editing, writing, replying and reporting easily take 5–8 hours a week. When the busy season comes, social media is the first thing to stop.

2. Freelancer

Good for: a clear, limited job – posting three times a week from a plan you approve.

The catch: one person rarely covers strategy, design, photography, copywriting in two languages and ads. Holidays and illness mean silence on your accounts.

3. Agency

Good for: businesses that want strategy, brand consistency, content production and paid campaigns handled together, with reporting tied to enquiries.

The catch: higher monthly cost, and you still need to supply real-life material – your people, your products, your news. No agency can invent authenticity.

How to decide

  • Count the hours you would really spend each week, and price them.
  • List the skills needed: strategy, design, photo/video, Czech and English copy, ads.
  • Ask what a successful month looks like – followers, or bookings and calls?

A common middle path: the agency builds the brand system, the templates and the monthly plan, and your team adds day-to-day stories. See how we approach it on our digital marketing page.
